CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We do therefore agree that by the aid of the Holy Spirit:

We will exercise a Christian care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully warn, exhort, and admonish each other as occasion may require;

We will not form the habit of forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, but will uphold the public worship of God, and the ordinances of His house;

We will not omit personal and family devotions at home, nor neglect the great duty of training our children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and those under our care, for the service of Christ, and the enjoyment of heaven;

As we are the light of the world, and salt of the earth, we will seek divine aid to enable us to deny ungodliness, and every worldly lust, and to walk circumspectly in the world, to abstain from the use and abuse of any substance (such as alcohol, drugs, etc.) that will harm our bodies, the temples of the Holy Spirit who is in us, because we are bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ and are not our own, that we may witness the gospel of the grace of God to all people;

We will cheerfully contribute of our property, according as God has prospered us, for the maintenance of a faithful and evangelical ministry among us, for the support of the poor, and to spread the gospel over the earth;

We will in all conditions, even till death, strive to live to the glory of Him who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light;

And that when we move from this geographical location, where it would not be within reasonable commuting distance, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church of like faith and practice, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the privileges of God's word.

We understand that should any one of us persist in violation of this covenant, and resist the call of the pastor(s) and church to repent and be restored, that we will be removed from church fellowship and, if still calling ourselves a believer, dealt with as one who is walking disorderly.  In such case, restoration to church fellowship would be possible following public repentance and recommitment to following the spirit of this covenant.
